It's New Year's Eve and we've been counting down the last few weeks of the year mentally preparing ourselves for our next adventure... We are going stop eating meat and dairy.
There are 5 of us, each at different stages of life and health. After watching a few documentaries about food production and the health impacts of the modern American Family diet, we decided to do an experiment as a family. What would happen if we all transitioned to a plant-based, whole foods diet? That means no meat, no fish, no dairy, no eggs, no refined sugar, no white flour, no high fructose corn syrup. We will eat organic and local, as much as possible, but we have to balance all these healthy interests with the fact that we are crazy busy and need to resort to practicality in order to preserve our sanity.
This is our adventure. Our pledge is to give it our best effort and to be honest about the ups and downs along the way.
Sweet mother of pearl! Best of luck to you all.
ReplyDeleteWishing you guys the best of luck! Can't wait to hear about your journey!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome!!! You guys can do this! Fred and I have yet to take the plunge, but after also watching a few documentaries on the subject (and a holiday full of saturated animal fats), we are trying to eat more plant based and less red meat. The hardest part for us is the dairy. I love my greek yogurt and Fred loves his cheese. Anyway, I think it is fabulous you guys are blogging about this and we're excited to follow you on your journey - love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! We are really having fun with it! I have been surprised at how easy it was to cut out dairy. I really don't miss it as much as I thought I would. I'm with Fred... cheese is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd to add to that thought, We have been eating the SO Delicious brand almond milk Greek yogurt & it is great. The Coconut is good too & I am not a fan of coconut lol. Thanks for the post & the support:)
